Willkommen! Redd’s Biergarten Blossoms in Newark
German Style Beer Garden Joins RockPlaza Lofts’s Restaurant Row
Newark, N.J. – April 18, 2016 – Newark’s rich history of breweries and beer barons adds a new chapter with the opening of Redd’s Biergarten on Market Street’s bustling restaurant row, located between Broad and Mulberry Streets. Redd’s Biergarten is an independently owned, traditional German beer garden that has a distinctive urban flare about it; offering a unique communal dining and bar experience in the ground floor retail space of 218 Market Street in the RockPlaza Lofts complex.
The opening of Redd’s Biergarten in Newark’s historic Four Corners District continues the revitalization of the neighborhood through the addition of new retail and residential opportunities in the city. Redd’s German beer garden-style restaurant fills a niche that has been missing from Newark. Redd’s is a communal gathering place, featuring the long community tables found in Germany, that encourages socializing, meeting new people and stimulating conversations over authentic German food, wine and beer.
Redd’s owners – Doug Palsi, Dan Palsi and Frank Pinto – have been friends since grammar school and, combined, have more than 75 years of experience in the hospitality industry. The Palsi Family has successfully operated Redd’s Restaurant & Bar in Carlstadt (near the Meadowlands) since 2002, selected Newark as their next location due to the growing number of residents and employees in the neighborhood, and as a result of customers who encouraged them to follow the New Jersey Devils to Newark.
“When we were looking for a place to expand our business and saw the growth in residents and companies moving into Newark, we knew this was a community that would appreciate the culture and atmosphere our restaurant provides,” said Doug Palsi. “Newark has a rich beer history with the likes of Ballantine Brewery, G. Krueger Brewing Co. and Anheuser-Busch, which helped shape the city in the early 20th century. It’s fitting for our beer garden-style restaurant to make its home in the heart of Newark.”
“The Four Corners Historic District at Broad and Market Streets was once the busiest intersection in the United States and we’re known for years that this neighborhood would experience a renaissance and return as a center of residential living and commercial business. Redd’s joins the thriving district and brings something unique to RockPlaza Lofts and the surrounding community that’s been missing from Newark.” said Marc E. Berson, chairman of Fidelco Realty Group, the owner and developer of RockPlaza Lofts.
The 7,000 square-foot Redd’s Biergarten features a full service bar and dining room along with takeout and a limited delivery service. Over the years the Redd’s brand has been widely recognized as one that knows how to service the needs of sports fans and concert goers; so much so that Redd’s hosted the Pro Football Hall of Fame Tailgate Party for Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium. The owners of Redd’s Biergarten are looking forward to establishing a similar relationship with the NJ Devils, Seton Hall Basketball, sports fans, concert goers, and Newark’s general and business population.
Redd’s Biergarten will be open daily from 11:00AM to 1:00AM. The restaurant has a private space available for events and parties and provides off-site catering. For more information, please contact Doug Palsi at 973-877-6600 or email@example.com
